110/20 kV Data Centre
- Case Study: Data Centre
Location: Germany
Client Challenges
The client required a 42 MW data centre to be built on a greenfield site 20 km south of Berlin with a 110/20 kV substation. German building codes and local regulations, as well as communication, proved a challenge for the client.
H&MV's Solution
- As Principal Contractor, H&MV Engineering planned, managed, monitored and coordinated the entire construction phase of the on-site substation, off-site cable route and feeder mast works. H&MV Engineering’s scope of works was divided into the following principal phases: design, permitting, easements and wayleaves, construction, commissioning and handover.
- This included a 110 kV outdoor air insulated substation and associated switchgear. The substation was connected to the local electricity grid using a double circuit 110 kV underground cables from the overhead line to two 70 MVA 110/20 kV transformers.
- Liaison and communication, as well as early engagement with the client and e.dis (DNO), ensured this project was delivered on time.
