H&MV Engineering and Aquila Clean Energy EMEA Launch a Battery Energy Storage Project in Germany.
H&MV Engineering, in collaboration with Aquila Clean Energy EMEA, is proud to announce the launch of one of its first Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Germany, Strübbel battery park. This significant milestone marks a major step in supporting the energy transition across Europe.
Aquila Clean Energy EMEA, a leader in renewable energy projects across Europe, is leveraging its vast experience from successful energy initiatives in countries such as Finland, Italy, Spain, Lithuania, Belgium, and Portugal to drive growth in the battery storage sector. Currently, the company is developing battery systems with a total capacity of over 4.5 GW. These projects aim to enhance the overall capacity of energy storage in Europe, ensuring the security and flexibility of the power grid, and supporting the transition to renewable energy. As renewable energy increasingly dominates the power grid, effective storage solutions become essential to balance fluctuations and ensure a stable, reliable energy supply.

The planning, construction, and installation of the necessary energy infrastructure for this project are being expertly handled by H&MV Engineering. An established engineering service provider, H&MV Engineering has over 1,500 employees with a strong presence in Frankfurt am Main. The company specialises in the planning and construction of high-voltage grid connections, catering to large-scale battery storage systems and hyperscale data centers up to 380 kV.
Among the 14 BESS projects planned by Aquila Clean Energy, which collectively offer a capacity of over 900 MW, the Strübbel project stands out as a key initiative for Germany’s energy transition. With a rating of 50 MW and a total storage capacity of 100 MWh, Strübbel is set to become one of the largest battery parks in the country, contributing significantly to the future stability of the German power grid.
The Strübbel battery park, spanning over 6,000 m², will house 54 storage units designed to meet the latest safety standards, with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability and community engagement. The facility will utilise advanced lithium iron phosphate battery (LFP) cells, which are free from nickel and cobalt. These cells are not only more sustainable but also safer and more durable. The cutting-edge technology for this project is being provided by Trina Storage, a global leader in vertically integrated energy storage solutions and a business unit of Trinasolar.
