132/20 kV Data Centre
- Case Study: Data Centre
Location: UK
Client Challenges
The client required a 132 kV substation with a 7 km grid route connection. Space, land, and road opening license requirements require careful management. Tight timeframes dictated by National Grid meant correct project management and programming were of the utmost importance.
H&MV's Solution
- As Principal Contractor, H&MV was responsible for the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the 132 kV substation and grid route.
- The grid connection consisted of a 7 km cable route for dual circuit 132 kV cables, a 110 MVA 132 kV dual secondary 20 kV winding transformer, and 132 kV custom switchgear.
- Detailed route review and surveys, including indemnification of any Special Engineering Difficulties (SEDs).
- Installation and commissioning of National grid and IPP protection relays and associated data centre infrastructure. H&MV Engineering was responsible for risk management and issuing the Integrated Test Plans (ITPs), construction management plans, CDM appointments, quality plans, safety management plans and temporary works register.
