This month, we are excited to highlight Tom Flanagan, CSA Group Director based in our Tipperary office. Tom’s role on our ESG Committee is essential to advancing sustainable construction design practices at H&MV, bringing both expertise and a forward-thinking approach to our sustainability initiatives.
What is your role in the ESG Committee?
As a committed member of the ESG Committee, Tom brings his expertise in construction and design to inform the team of industry-leading practices and by suggesting how H&MV can integrate these practices into our projects. “I inform the committee of industry practices I see in our work and suggest how to implement these in H&MV,” Tom shares. Additionally, Tom conducts research into sustainable construction design methods, ensuring that we stay at the forefront of eco-friendly and efficient project design.
Are you a member of any ESG Working Groups?
Tom is an active member of ESG 6: Sustainable Design, a specialised working group focused on reducing the environmental impact of our construction and design projects. His insights ensure that our designs are not only sustainable but also practical and value-engineered to meet our clients’ needs.
What does the Working Group work towards?
The Sustainable Design working group is focused on exploring and implementing strategies to reduce the environmental footprint of our construction sites. Tom explains. “We’re exploring sustainable design methods to reduce our environmental footprint throughout our sites,” Tom explains. The group’s work ensures that sustainability considerations are integrated into every stage of project design and delivery, helping H&MV contribute to a greener future.
What does ESG mean to you?
For Tom, ESG is about bringing construction design and delivery teams together to develop sustainable, high-quality solutions. “ESG will focus our design and delivery teams to work together to come up with more sustainable designs that align with value engineering solutions,” he says. his integrated approach ensures that every project reflects H&MV’s commitment to sustainability and client satisfaction.
